2021-2022 crayon recycling for a happier community program

We collected 29 pounds of crayons from the 2021 Warrick County School Supply Recycling Challenge that was held in May. To support our local teachers and reduce waste in Warrick County, We UPCYCLED the used/broken crayons this year as well.

OUR POWERFUL HELPERS

UPCYCLING crayons is extremely labor-intensive and time-consuming. We were LUCKY to have two POWERFUL helpers this year– Karson from Castle North and Izumi!! Without their help, this wouldn’t have been possible. Their hard work and dedication are greatly appreciated.

Highlights of the 2021-2022 School Supply Recycling

  • We not only diverted 300 pounds of school supplies from landfills, but also made use of all of the unused school supplies to support children in need in Warrick County.

  • We could also donate all of the gently used school supplies to local teachers. We could reach more teachers and schools this year — 13 teachers from Elbefeld, Chandler, Oakdale elementary schools, Tecumseh High School, and Noah’s Ark preschool.

  • We were able to support international students at USI too!
